What causes low shower water pressure and what can I do about it?
Low shower pressure can be caused by clogged showerheads, faulty pressure-reducing valves, leaks, or issues with your mains supply. In New Zealand, homes with older low-pressure hot water systems may also experience weak flow. Try cleaning the showerhead and checking for visible leaks. If the issue persists, VIP Plumbing can assess your system and recommend solutions, such as upgrading to a mains pressure system.
Signs of a broken water line include unexplained wet patches in your yard, a sudden drop in water pressure, increased water bills, or the sound of running water when no taps are on. If you suspect a leak, acting quickly is important to prevent water damage. VIP Plumbing can locate and repair underground leaks for you.
First, switch off the waste disposal unit at the power source. Use an Allen key (usually found underneath the unit) to manually turn the blades and free the jam.
